TIME TO TAKE A STAND

 

For a long time, I haven't posted a lot of political stuff. The newsletter I posted on my website stressed that it would not have any political items. While the newsletter was well received, I shut it down because there's too much political horseshit going on in the world, most of it filled with horror. What should I do? Ignore it and just scroll on by, or write about it? My answer is to attack it as I do with the horror I write about in my fiction tales. 

The idiot we have sitting in the oval office now is a first-class bastard. And that is putting it mildly. Setting up concentration camps in this country is heinous. Where's the justice in that? What happened to innocent until proven guilty? It's not in his playbook. He would much rather play the fascist card and do whatever he wants. 

ICE has gotten completely out of hand. They're nothing other than a bunch of hooligans out to do what they can to attack anyone in the country who doesn't appear to be lily-white. As far as I'm concerned, they're a mercenary group hired by Trump to do his bidding.

As for the idiotic tariffs Trump is using to control trade imbalances, those which for the most part are not imbalances at all, they're raising costs for the citizens of this country. What a sham!

As for his relations with the rest of the world, he's certainly not the most popular guy on the block. His efforts to win the Nobel Peace Prize were idiotic at best. How does a man who bombs Iran, sinks boats he thinks are transporting illegal drugs in international waters, and threatens to invade other countries he doesn't like think he's a man of peace?  

How does he get away with this? He merely bullies his way through everything. All of his non-qualified cabinet members were pushed through by a republican senate that lacked courage to stand up to him. The Supreme Court has gone along with his every whim. It's a court in name only. 

We can't allow this racist, sadistic, less than human individual to keep doing what he's doing. The only way this can happen is if we elect people to the Senate and House that won't condone what's going on. Until election time comes around, we can contact the people we have already elected to their positions and let them know their jobs are on the line, and they either grow a pair and do the right thing or they're out of a job. 

It's time to act. Now!

 I want to thank our readers for purchasing our books. We are a small Press and don't do a huge amount of in-your-face marketing. We prefer to use word of mouth to get the news out to prospective readers. Yes, we tell folks our books are out, but we don't spam anyone. Our Amazon book pages, book trailers, and Facebook are our basic tools for promoting our work. We even have online jigsaw puzzles through Jigidi. The puzzles are free. It's a fun way to interact with readers. We don't automate anything. All of our responses are personal. And, we don't hit the same groups day after day about our books. We vary everything so we're not boring.

Another thing we do is to support other authors. We're all in this together. It's the right thing to do. We've been adding in more book reviews for books we love from author friends of ours. Terri and I do this and more on our personal websites as well.

The last couple of weeks has seen a big spike in sales for us. We're loving this. While Stephen King still sells more books than us, it doesn't matter. Nor should it. We don't want to write like he does. Our styles belong to us. Our fans like them, and that makes us happy.

SHONK, by Terri DelCampo, is one of those stories that has you guessing right up until the end. Just when I thought I knew where the tale was taking me, I discovered I was wrong. But that's the way I like a good horror story. If everything is easily determined ahead of time, the excitement is lacking. Being pulled into a story is the way to go. Read this story, and you'll see what I mean.
