Billie-Jo Williams is my Woman In Horror today! I met her on Twitter a while back. With each passing day, I am getting to like Twitter more and more. Had it not been for the tweets between Billie, her friends, my friends, and me, I would probably still be unaware of Billie and her great novels. I got carried away into her world of dragons via her nine part The Destiny Of Dragons series.
The Book of Wrath ( The Destiny of Dragons 1 ) is the first in this series. Follow Billie-Jo as she weaves a tale of superb fantasy, with great action, magic, mythical beasts, romance, and more. As you can tell from her picture above, Billie-Jo is ready to get into action at a moment's notice.
This great book has 445 pages and is only .99. That's right! This is a great deal! Get to know all about the beginning of The Destiny Of Dragons. You'll get sucked right in to the action!

About Billie-Jo Williams
Born in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, UK, died who knows where, I'm on a quest to become a full-time writer and fulfil a life-long dream. I can't remember a time when I didn't write and can't imagine a time when I won't. Having lived without electricity for a while, necessity sparked my love affair with story telling, as it was easier to write than read in poor light. No one else had penned the tale I wanted to read and my characters yearned to live and breathe, so I had to bring them to life!
Now I write for the experience and the pleasure, for it is my passion, my religion, my parent, my councilor and my identity. I write because I don't know how not to. My head is full of stories all jostling for position and it's never a matter of which book to write next, for I work on concurrent projects.
My literary inspirations are an eclectic lot, which range from English and French classics, to graphic novels, historical biographies, manga and great fantasy, of course.
The Destiny of Dragons is a nine headed Hydra of a series, combining action, adventurous quests, distinct characters, environmental concerns, good vs evil, imagination, loss, magic, myriad detail, mythical beasts, romance, sharp imagery, triumphs and more. The fantasy only builds as the books progress. It has been crafted with much care and attention, penned with love, blood, sweat and tears, and all nine books are intricately linked. The series is complete and book nine will conclude the saga in 2020, fingers crossed!

Cursed by the corrupt emperor pro tempore and his weak heir, Grand Prince Len, the Imperial Capital of Ay is condemned by an unnatural disaster, known only as the Dark Destruction. Forced to flee and to lead, Len Vallely leans upon his personal protector, Commander Kai Canarbis, but as Kai seeks sanctuary and support, for the inept imperial heirs, the Vallelys must pay for their dynasty’s unconscionable crimes.
Caught in karma’s web, Kai seeks to disentangle Len out of a sticky mess, his only reward being his blossoming romance with Grand Princess Anna. However, having been badly wounded by the herald of the Dark Destruction, even the incredibly accomplished Kai falls victim to circumstance.
A desperate, but doomed quest to save the empire leads across land, sea and ice, into enemy-occupied territory, but as the unfathomable Dark Destruction continues to ravage the realm, there might not be an empire remaining for anyone to claim.

5.0 out of 5 stars A sweeping fantasy epic

A crumbling empire, paying the price for decadence and corruption, faces the Dark Destruction. Our heroes flee for their lives, but are tasked with the responsibility of saving their people. And so unfolds a sweeping fantasy epic that delivers on every level. The author's vivid imagination delivers surprises at every turn within mesmerising fantasy realms. The writing could use a little spit and polish in places, but is mostly very good and I was impressed by the author's attention to detail. If you're looking for a new series to get into, you could do far worse than this one.

Having paid a cruel price, after the failed quest to Aquarius, Len Vallely is finally forced to take charge. However, increasingly out of his depth, he consistently leads his cause from disaster to disaster. Dogged by catastrophe and convinced the predatory Dark Destruction targets him, he eventually abandons his pursuit for the Imperial Throne.
Deserted to stand alone, against the insidious forces, which tear the empire apart, Kai Canarbis is convinced to take command, in order to preserve what remains of the realm. But after inheriting dark secrets and ancient promises of prophecy, a ferocious force, which otherwise lay dormant in him, is awoken.
As it becomes ever easier to forsake the light, Kai fights the desire to turn his ever-growing authority against those he despises. Despite differences, difficulties and temptations, his only salvation lies in his love for Anna Vallely, however, the imperial heirs’ discovery, that he hides a violent past and dangerous alter-ego, leads to confrontation, betrayal, abduction and true, terrible power.

This second book in the series is a good follow up, introducing new characters which are believeable and memorable. I like the way that the story never gives anything away and leaves you guessing about the next twist of events. Made me buy the 3rd book!

With the Lazarus Cause close to conquering the entire Nation, Len Vallely’s ragtag fellowship of former foes is forced to retreat. Unfortunately, the only remaining sanctuary is the great Magic Type haven of Myrthia, where the prince imperial must prove he’s shed his sins or pay for his dynasty’s unconscionable crimes.
Escaping the web others have spun around him and carried along by forces beyond his control, Kai Canarbis’s destiny leads him to confront an ancient evil, one that exposes the empire’s true past and threatens its future.
In the end, both Len and Kai have to summon individual strengths, to oppose their mutual enemy. Indeed, Len must muster all the courage his bloodline demands, to thwart those who seek his destruction, in order to steal his birthright, so that he can assume his rightful place upon the Imperial Throne and save the world.

The third book in this series, by far my favourite so far. Total unpredictable, it had me entrigued and impatient to see how the plot would develop. Strong characters that you can empathise or hate, I read this in just over a week. I particularly liked the ending which is a taster for the what's to come in the next installment.

After the devastating Dark Destruction, peace came to Ay in the form of a single man, Kai Canarbis. However, some didn’t welcome peace and, for six-and-ten winters, Bran, the Raven Lord of Life and Death, has waged an unconscionable war against Kai's empire of righteousness.
After the imperial heirs are abducted, a diabolical trap is set for Kai and sprung. Bran delights in sabotaging the empire’s guardians and condemning the realm, until a long absent hero returns in all force, to oppose him with power akin to a god’s.
It might be too late though, for with the empire smarting from incessant war and ill prepared to defend herself, and the realm responding furiously to Kai’s sore absence, a quick conquest seems inevitable. With too many refugees flooding High Infinity, whilst the spells which created her begin to break down, a desperate search for Ay’s strongest guardian unveils the distressing truth on his fate.

The Book of Family, the fourth book in the series, I was instantly hooked by the introduction of the next generation of Vallely's/Canarbaris', especially the complex relationships amid a turbulent background.
A classic good versus evil plot is complitcated by underlying issues which drew me into this narrative web which is both unpredictable and intriguing.
Very highly recommended and can't wait for the next installment.
